Zephyria

Zefyria is located in the center of East Milos at a distance of 5.5 km from Adamas and 9 from Plaka.
Created by the Venetians in the 13th century, it flourished and became the capital of the island thanks to the existence of pirates and was abandoned in 1767 due to its destruction by earthquakes and due to epidemics caused by the gases of the cracks and forced its inhabitants to relocate.
Today Zefyria is a lively rural settlement with about 150 inhabitants and passing by you lead to the beaches of Agia Kyriaki and Paleochori.
Finally, in this settlement is preserved the old Diocese of Milos, Panagia Portiani, together with the walled church of Agios Nikolaos, while every August 15, honoring the memory of the Virgin Mary, one of the most important festivals of the island is organized.
